Gerber vs Beechnut cereal

Anyone know if Gerber cereal contains milk?

LO is on Nutramigen for a *possible* milk protein allergy. We also (per pedi) are adding 2tsp of cereal per 2oz of formula to help with reflux. When we were in the hospital he was getting Beechnut b/c that's all they had. Now we are home & I'm wondering if I can use Gerber rice cereal.

Anyone???

  • Yes gerber contains milk.  We use Beechnut because DD has a milk protein allergy.  You can look on their websites, they are both really good about saying what's in their products.  One of them has an allergen chart, but I can't remember which one.

  • Gerber's website says the rice, oatmeal & barley single grain cereals do not contain milk. BUT they all contain soy.

I know Beechnut is soy-free. I'm so confused about this whole thing & my pedi is less than helpful.

ExpectantSteelerFan...we want to switch off Nutramigen too but I'm not sure what to switch too?! We never tried soy; we went right from Similac Advance to Nutramigen.

  • You can make  your own and then you'll know exactly what is in it.

https://www.wholesomebabyfood.com/ has recipes for different cereals (rice, oatmeal and barley)
