LOL it says not to make them for infants younger than 3 months. The website does say it's OK to make them carrots, just don't use the water from the steamer to add into the puree b/c it contains nitrates. Get fresh water to thin.

Exactly! I make them all.the.time. My baby has yet to get food poisoning from nitrates in carrots.

This. I specifically asked the pedi about it and she agreed. If you wait until 6 months and don't feed a cup of carrots per day, you'll have no problems.
I don't use a steamer basket. I put the carrots in a small collander. I then put about a half an inch of water in a sauce pan slightly larger than the collander. Place the collander in the sauce pan and place the lid to the sauce pan directly over the carrots. Heat the water to boiling. Steam will escape the sides but that's fine. It takes 15 minutes or so for the carrots to get soft. Pur?e using your preferred method.
Re: How do you make carrots for baby?

P.S. I peeled, steamer, and blended the carrots. You can buy a steamer basket for as cheap as $2-$3.

Also, you could peel, chop, and bake in a small amount of water in a baking dish until soft.
