I didn't know that until the bumps told me either. I believe I even read if you are even in a minor fender bender you are suppose to get a new seat.

This, my mom had an accident with DS that didn't have any the things listed.  So the insurance company refused to replace the seat.  However when DS had a simlar accident our insurance company replaced the seat even though technically it didn't need to be.

I didn't know until I was in an accident when DS was an infant(SCARY) and the police told me when we were filing the report.
