OMG the last check in was Saturday! Are we still out there?

Name - Chelsea

Due Date - 2/16

Date Placed on Bedrest - Hospitalized 1/4 - home 1/6

Type - Modified Bed Rest

Why - PTL

Question of the Day - I have 2 since some of us are GD/HBP 1) What has been your bedrest craving food? 2) Have you learned anything interesting about yourself during this time? (Feel free to change)

Answer- 1) Right now - I need Taco Bell really bad. I had some last night. I need more - right now!! DH is at work - poo! 2) Although I don't miss work, I must love being a CPA. I spent most of the morning with my calculator and pad going through the budget and expenses. I love it, love it, love it. I'm such a nerd.

Updates- My procardia ends tonight at 6pm. My doctor said that she doesn't want me to have a refill! I go in tomorrow morning for another visit. I'm nervous. Today is 35/35. Yay! I also don't think my stomach has grown much in the past week or so. I haven't been gaining much weight per the scale and I was supposed to reach 40lbs due to my small size - oh well.

  • Name - Michelle

    Due Date - 4/20

Date Placed on Bedrest - at 14wks

    Type - Modified Bed Rest

    Why -Herniated disks in back

Question of the Day - I have 2 since some of us are GD/HBP 1) What has been your bedrest craving food? 2) Have you learned anything interesting about yourself during this time? (Feel free to change)

Answer 1- I haven't really had many cravings and not any one in particular. :-( I've had lots of trouble eating and keeping food down.

Answer 2- I love being pregnant even though I've had a rough pregnancy.  People think I'm nuts when I talk about how I love it.  After all, why should I love being in pain and sick and stuck on bedrest for 26wks?  But I do!!

Updates- Tonight DH and I are going to a cloth diaper party.  It is being thrown by a girl that does prenatal yoga...I can't usually go to yoga and when I do it's just for the breathing exercises and talking but I'm on their email list, so I got invited!  It should be really neat and I'm totally looking forward to being with other pregnant women.  Other than that, everything is the same around here.  But DH did get the nursery painted last night and we picked up Olivia's crib...now we need to put it together.  I'm so excited!

Hope all you ladies are doing well.  I know lots of you had appts for the beginning of this week and am looking forward to some updates!

Date Placed on Bedrest - 12/31; hospitalized 12/30 released on 12/31 and 1/11 released on 1/12

Type - Strict Bed Rest at Home

    Why - Hypertension; preeclampsia risk

Question of the Day - I have 2 since some of us are GD/HBP 1) What has been your bedrest craving food? 2) Have you learned anything interesting about yourself during this time? (Feel free to change)

Answer- 1) I've been craving sweet stuff, but other than that not much right now 2) I'm considering a "career change" because I've learned that my LO and my health is more important than a job.

Updates- I went to my OB appointment yesterday and had to see the NP instead of my OB because my doctor got called out to a delivery.  My bp was high when I first got there, but went down as soon as they had me lay on my left side.  This is what is also happening at home.  I told her I felt like I was out of breath all the time, which had been going on for a while and I thought was normal.  Then I told her I had been having weird chest pains that were short stabbing pains in random places in my chest.  Long story short, after a trip to the ER, they think it's "chest wall pains."  But, because my bp was pretty high at the office and at the ER, I ended up in L&D again last night.  My OB said that "we'll try home best rest one more time.  if you end up here again, we're going to have you stay in the hospital because your pressures are beautiful here in L&D."  But, I also saw the perinatologist today and everything looks great with LO!

Question of the Day - I have 2 since some of us are GD/HBP 1) What has been your bedrest craving food? 2) Have you learned anything interesting about yourself during this time? (Feel free to change)

Answer- 1) I'm still craving ice cream and popcorn. 2) I've learned that life will be okay with out me doing everything I normally do. That the dishes and laundry will get done someday, and it doesn't need to be done today.

Updates- Saw the OB yesterday, I am a full fingertip dilated and my cercvix is a lot thinner. Since I'll "officially" be 36 weeks on Friday, they want me to take my terbutaline through the weekend, then start weaning myself off of it. My next appoinment is Wednesday the 20th, for another internal exam. And those darn exams never get any easier!

  • Name - Andrewl

    Due Date - 3/23

Date Placed on Bedrest - at 19wks (10/29/09) allowed to return to light duties at 29 weeks 1/4/10.

    Type - Modified Bed Rest

    Why - Possible Incompetent Cervix

Question of the Day - I have 2 since some of us are GD/HBP 1) What has been your bedrest craving food? 2) Have you learned anything interesting about yourself during this time? (Feel free to change)

Answer 1: Nachos. I could eat them for every meal. The good ones you get from the ballgames with the peppers on top.

Answer 2: That I don't really like talking on the phone. All the time I was on bedrest, I still never picked up the phone to call many people other than my sister who I talk to everyday. I guess I am a bit anti-social like that. Also that I am strong and faith will always guide me through. I have not been worried that this time would end up with a lost like the last time because I know God will take care of me and my baby. I don't have to worry because I have him on my side.

  • Name - Lauren

    Due Date - 3/23

Date Placed on Bedrest - on and off bedrest my whole pg, Hospitalized 1/4

    Type - strict hospital bedrest

    Why - IUGR

Question of the Day - I have 2 since some of us are GD/HBP 1) What has been your bedrest craving food? 2) Have you learned anything interesting about yourself during this time? (Feel free to change)

Answer- 1) I have been wanting Graeters black raspberry chip milkshakes but even that hasnt been a huge craving--I basically just crave edible food since the hospital food is AWFUL

    2) Like PP, I have learned how good God is and how much I need Him. As a Christian I have always known these things but this pregnancy more than ever has taught me more about Him and how faithful He is and how much He is the only true thing I can rely on. I know that He has a plan for me and little buddy and that the plan will be for OUR good and HIS glory

Updates- Not too many updates--I found out that they want little buddy to be at least 1000grams at my next u/s--at my u/s on the 4th he was 830grams so I am hoping that he will have grown if not I will have an amnio then be induced (which is scary since Ill only be 31 weeks) I am annoyed becuase my u/s was originally scheduled for Jan 18th (which already feels like forever away) but they had to move it to the 19th because of the holiday--holiday schmoliday I want my u/s appt to be here now! this waiting game stinks!

  • Name: Melissa     Due:  May 19, 2010     Placed on strict bedrest at home: January 12, 2010 for complete placenta previa with active bleeding     Goal: Making it to 24 weeks gestation/viability.  At thispoint, if anything happens, my doctor would give me steroids to help mature the baby's lungs and if born, they would try to save the little one.  I'm still having some bleeding, and my OB reinforced total bedrest or else being admitted to the hospital where they can make sure I stay in bed!  This Is so new and scary!  How have you all coped with - especially, prolonged - bedrest?  I am lucky because my older child is 4 and not as dependent as a younger toddler.  I am having a hard time accepting offers for help, but know that will only make things harder on my husband (who has been very supportive).  Oh!  Just felt that little one squirming around in there!  That is the most reassuring feeling right now.  Thanks for the chance to share.
