most of our stuff like that is gifts from friends/family that live in other countries or from travels. We have a bit of an international art collection going on. Kind of like ten thousand Villages. They have one in the highlands.
I also like z gallerie, west elm and CB2. CB2 is coming to midtown Atlanta soon

a chotchkie is the same as a knick-knack, right? My favorite things are all pieces either given to me as gifts or handed down from a family member. I have a ceramic vase that DH's parents sent me for Christmas the first year we started dating. I can't remember how but for some reason my husb thought it had gotten broken during shipping and it makes me smile every time I remember how happy he was to see that it made it safe in one piece. I have a pair of brass bookends that used to be in my parents house. They remind me of being a little kid and looking though all of my dad's art books. I also have a little tiny plaque that says "whatever souls are made of, mine and yours are the same." My bff gave it to me and I think it's so true.
I don't like a lot of collectibles but I have one of the willow tree angles that is the angel of the kitchen.
see, to me a chochtkie is a guy who is like a step down from a douche bag. I didn't know this was something else and was very confused.
To me, a chotchtkie is a bunch of crappy plastic toys. I used to work at Party City in high school and they have a whole aisle of chocktkies that people use for goody bags and stuff. I've never heard it used to describe knick knacks before! And Heather... I think I like your definitition best.
I thought it was all the crap you get in goodybags at birthday parties..that crap goes in the trash the minute I get home! I like Heather's idea and unfortunately I know several of those!

You could very well be right. If that's the case then I change my answer to this guy I know named Dave.

We get a lot of ours at Crate and Barrel and Homegoods.
It is a knick-knack to me-- I think it is Yiddish, maybe? And the spelling I have seen before is tchochke.
And that's one to grow on... (anyone else remember those commercials?
)
LOL!!!
Actually, you spell it tchotchke or tshatshke (Yiddish) for trinket.
LOL!
hahaha you 2 are hilarious!
