Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Fever with loss?

Hi Ladies,

I miscarried this past weekend and have now developed a fever (100.5), I am interested in finding out if anyone else has experienced this same thing.  I was only about 5 weeks along, and being my 3rd pregnancy I could tell something wasn't going right, so it wasn't a big shock to me.  I have a call into my OBGYN's phone nurse but I know it will take her a while to get back to me.  TIA!

Re: Fever with loss?

  • I am so sorry for your loss... and now the aggravation of a fever.  Sending you hugs & strength.

  • I had a fever the day my m/c started and a couple days later. I ask the doctor and he said that is normal for some women. I am sorry for your loss.
  • Elevated progesterone causes a woman's temp to be slightly elevated.

It's possible that you still have enough progesterone hanging around to be the cause.

I wouldn't worry at that level but if it gets much higher I would be more concerned.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • I'm sorry for your loss. I had a D&C, so when I developed a fever the dr was very concerned. It turned out that I had a bad infection and needed massive doses of antibiotics. I hope the dr calls you back soon. I know how frustrating waiting to hear back can be.

  • I'm sorry for your loss.  I had a temp before and after my MC.  It seemed like it took some time for my body to get back to normal.  Hang in there!!
  • Hello. I am very sorry for your loss. I had a low grade fever day 1 and 2 after my d&c and then a very high fever 4 days after. Over 102 and a horrible headache. I brought this up to my dr. and he didn't think it was related. For a relatively healthy person I felt that it was indeed related. My T&P are with you.

  • I developed a short lived 102.5 fever right around what would have been 5 weeks with my ectopic.  No one ever mentioned this symptom to me so I filed it away mentally.  No one seemed to think it was significant until AFTER the ectopic was confirmed.  (funny how the docs telling me I was having a m/c didn't seem concerned?).
