Baby Showers

Saturday or Sunday

My SIL is already planning my shower and as she's never done this before she was asking if I preferred a Saturday or a Sunday shower. What is the norm? its co-ed by the way I dont know if this makes a difference?

Re: Saturday or Sunday

  • Doesn't matter, but if its co-ed, I would think evening with cocktails.

  • I am having one on Saturday and one on Sunday....I don't think it makes a difference...but personally I prefer Saturday.

  • If it is spring keep in mind guys that play baseball or golf and what days they do that.  My DH doesn't so I'm not familiar.  I personally like Sunday showers...I have tons to do on Saturdays...but since it's co-ed Saturdays might be best.  I would ask around - your friends/family see what they think.  Obviously they know their guys best.  lol
  • If I have to go to a shower, I'd rather go on Sunday...I like my Saturdays! However, if it's out of town, then Sat is better for travel.
"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • Doesn't matter... I'm actually having one of each.  My Saturday shower is earlier in the day so people can still enjoy their day.  My Sunday shower is mid afternoon so that people can still go to church and not rush around afterwards.
  • I think Sunday is the usual day, however, if it's coed I'd do either a Saturday afternoon bbq or a Saturday evening cocktail party.

This... if people, or you, are traveling then Saturday would be better.

  • If it's co-ed, you have people coming from out of town, are a devoutly religious family or are okay with people hanging around into the evening, I would recommend Saturday.  If it's last minute, only women, many of your friends have children or all of your guests are local, I'd say Sunday.
