Amazing. SAHM.

It's amazing how little I get done as a SAHM!!!   It's 2:30 already and I've yet to empty the dishwasher, flip the laundry, look at the mail...DS is napping and I'm watching DOOL.  Guess I should shower and get dressed.  Think about dinner even????

Re: Amazing. SAHM.

  • I have to be seriously disciplined on days I need to get stuff done. But really, I have NO downtime. My 3.5 year old doesn't nap anymore, so it's pretty constant "take-care-of-2-kids" mode. It's not surprising it's hard to get stuff done!
  • I am exactly the same way.  I just wish my DH understood.

  • I am an extremely reluctant WOHM and I am always amazed by how fast the day goes when I am home with a sick LO.  I never get half the things done I think I will.

Just remember, there are days that are productive, and others just aren't!  Same thing in an office.  (Like right now as I am typing away.)

  • I get moving right away when I'm home.  Dd is home with the stomach bug (and I have a touch too).  I got up early and did 4 loads of laundry, played with dd and our hair heads that she got for Christmas.  We did several different braids, then swept, mopped, got wood, made lunch, dusted, water painted with dd.  Gave her a bath, washed hair, dried it and now she's laying on the couch resting while listening to a story on cd.  In a few minutes, I'll exercise and put on dinner.  I got a lot done. Oh and in between, I've cleaned vomit.
  • Niether of my girls nap so I don't get downtime either.  They rarely play well together for an extended period of time, so anytime I try to do anything I get interrupted.

My sisters always say" You're a SAHM, you have time to do things".  Riiiiiight.

    This this this.

  • I actually get done less now that I am a SAHM than I used to when I was a WOHM. At least I was able to do some phone calls and follow up on things before... now if we're home, I either forget or do other stuff... and when we're not home, I can't make those calls really....  The things I do get done around the house are usually done at 6am. I make myself get up 1.5 hours before kids get up... this way I can do some clean up, take a shower and even enjoy my cup of coffee while it's still quiet.
