3rd Trimester

Those having their 2nd or more child

Have you started getting all your newborn stuff out again? I know I still have several weeks but I still don't have the nursery done and we have not gotten the swing, bassinet, or anything thing else out of the basement yet. I feel like I am totally behind.

Re: Those having their 2nd or more child

  • We got tons of hand me down clothes from my sister and cousin so we started going through DS's old newborn clothes too.  I just started sorting out sizes and washing them about two weeks ago though.  We got out some of the gear from our crawl space last week - the car seat and bases, baby tub, bouncy chair etc and washed that stuff.  We still need to install the car seat bases, but otherwise, I'm feeling fairly ready!

  • I have all of the clothes ready to go in her dresser. The crib is set up, but there is no sheet on the bed in order to prevent dust from collecting. The swing is not officially set up, but it is downstairs instead of in the attic. I need to clean out the bath tub for Maddie, but I think I'll do that closer to when she's due.

I'm ready to go. I'm just waiting patiently.

  • I have gotten the clothes out, but dd was born in the summer, so the gender neutral things will not work for ds.  As for the bassinet, swing, etc.... it is still up in the attic.  We will probably get that down in the next couple of weeks and clean them up.  I have been way more relaxed this time around.  I just don't want to have it all set up and just look at it for the next month, you know.  We are already overwhelmed with toys from dd.
  • We finished most of the basic nursery necessities around 33 weeks and pulled out all the stuff we already had a couple weeks ago.  I'm still slowly getting myself pulled together.  I don't think you're behind, just more relaxed about it.  That's how I've been feeling completely.
  • This kid doesn't even have a place to sleep - well, actually we just bought a co-sleeper off CL but we havne't sold our house so she doesn't have a room.  And no, there's not sign that this little girl is showing up in 3 weeks!
  • Not the big things but I have gone through clothes from DS and re-organized them by size and re-washed them for baby boy (he has gotten a lot of new stuff as well). As far as baby girl, I got to go and buy LOTS of pink stuff!

All the big things are at MIL's since before we moved to our house, we lived in an apartment where there wasn't room for everything. DH will be getting all of that stuff together soon. We are waiting until after our shower on Sat to see what we get and work from there...

True. I know when we actually go to do it, it will probably only take us a couple of hours. The other thing is that there is no people setting the swing up in the family room when I know DD will just either a) try to climb in it herself or b) think it's a new toy for her babies.

  • All the clothes are out, the Pack n play and basinett are set up. Washing the seats for the Swing, and bouncy chair soon along with the tummy time mats.  I cried when going through all the itty bitty clothes... Gavin's clothes are gigantic compaired to NB onesies. and I never noticed until now that my baby boy isnt my baby anymore.
  • We still have to repaint the nursery! We moved over the summer, and we set up the nursery without painting it so we could move DD1 in there while we got her big girl room painted and ready for her. Our plan is to move her this month and then repaint the nursery, so that'll give us about two months to get the nursery finished.

As for all the clothes and baby gear, I'm in no rush to start pulling everything out since I should still have plenty of time. After we finish the nursery, I'll probably start unpacking and rewashing all the baby clothes just to get it out of the way. We purposefully kept the rest of the baby gear easily accessible after we moved since we knew we'd need it soon, so except for the car seat bases, I probably won't pull everything else out until closer to my due date, or even after we bring DD2 home.

  • Nope, haven't touched anything yet!

We're not changing the nursery from when DD used it. I may start dragging out and washing some clothes this week if I feel like it, but I don't plan to bring out the swing, bouncy seat, etc. until I'm much closer. Even at that point, I think we'll probably just wash the covers and leave things in our (finished) basement. DH can always bring them up once we get home from the hospital.

We bought a coming home outfit this weekend, but that's really all we've done. :)

  • well, our newborn stuff never made it to the basement Stick out tongue.

With that being said, yes I have it all out and organized.  I went through all of my sons clothes and I separated the gender neutral stuff from the boy-specific stuff.  All the neutral stuff is now in the new nursery, along with the swing, bouncy seat, etc.  I do almost everything much sooner than I need to.  obviously, lol

  • As soon as the nursery is finished, I'll go through our newborn clothes and wash and put them away in the drawers of the new room.  I don't anticipate getting to that point until the first weekend of February, and by that time, I'll be about 34 weeks.  My main reason for wanting to do that is so I can finally start cycling out some of the boxes of baby clothes taking over our closets!

As far as the swing, bouncy seat, carseat, bathtub, and stuff goes, I will probably get it out along with the clothes and just stash it in the nursery.  It won't be in the way.
