40+ chromo challenge test..

So.. in my attempts to start my 2nd ivf cycle last night..  it was once again interrupted & I'm mad about it!!  I was on the pill for 17 days since 12/16..turned 40 on 12/22 & no one told me anything about this test that seems to be mandatory with insurance companies.  Yesterday morning, i went for bloodwork to make sure my levels were OK to start & then got the dreaded phone call.. "dont start with any stims tonight..seems like because you turned 40 recently, you have to take the chromo challenge test".. I was soo pissed!! My husband (who's an attorney) is still fuming.. I just am so frustrated.. why couldnt they tell me before the day i was going to start..

Luckily.. i'm having a menses so i can jump into my 3 day tomorrow & take my fsh & estridial levls..and then day 5-9, this week.. i take clomid..two pills a night & then another blood test next monday..  boy i hope i pass..

 any one else familiar with this test!! 

IVF - 9/09 - BFN! :( IVF #2 - ER 3/16; ET 3/18 with one embryo Beta 3/30 -- BFN! :( IVF #3 - 5/10 - BFN! IVF #4 - 11/10 - BFP. m/c at 6weeks :( FET #1 - 2/11 - BFP. beta on 2/21 :) Thank you God! :) u/s on 3/7 showed TWINS! u/s on 3/11 TWO heartbeats! Couldn't be happier :)

    Never heard of it.  But thanks for making me aware of it.  I start on Lupron on 1/26.  The doctor didn't put me on BCP.  I guess I will be putting in a call to my doctor tomorrow to find out about this test.

    I think you are confusing it with the "clomid challenge test."  I don't think they can test your chromosomes. 

     

    Sorry your plan got all screwed up.  I feel your pain.

    you are right..the "clomid" .. sorry.. that's sometimes how they talk..now that you say it..yes that's what they said..clomid challenge test.. but i guess it's for 40 year olds and over... and they shouldve told me before i was ready to start the shots.. arghhh lol

    So what is the clomid challenge test for???  I did a little research.  What were your FSH and E2 levels on day 3? It could be because of these levels + age.  Doesn't being 40 suck?!!!

    well the clomid challenge test..is only because i just turned 40.. but of course the plot thickens.. i had an ins approval til jan 21 (obviously into my 40th year) ..and would have needed 2 more days .. of extended approval.. well someone made the decision to not go thru with it.on the basis that maybe we wouldnt had gotten the approval.. well.. of course, now after the fact..we wouldve gotten it.. soo i'm letting bygones be bygones..and moving forward..

    my fsh was a 10 & my E2 was 56.. yesterday..which was day 3.. sooo.. that's good... ins requires fsh to be under 15 & e2 to be under 80.. cant imagine it would go up too crazy in a week..

     

    i like being 40..but man they sure put you thru the ringer.. :)
