High-Risk Pregnancy

Bedrest Mamas' Check-in - Sunday

This thread is for any and all mamas on bedrest, in any form. We are stuck home or in the hospital, in a bed or on our couches, and could use the support of each other to make it through this time in order to get to a healthy baby! We all know how hard bedrest is and we wish everyone a healthy pregnancy!!!! Anyone is welcome to join, and anyone can start this daily thread. Just copy and paste this paragraph and info lines below if you get here and the thread has yet to start for that day!

Name - Jennifer

Due Date - 4/16

Date Placed on Bedrest - 12/31; hospitalized on 12/30

Type - Strict bed rest at home

Why - hypertension; pre-eclampsia risk

Question of the Day - What is one thing you DON'T miss while being on bedrest?

Answer- I don't miss work.  I miss the freedom of being able to go out and do things, but I don't miss all the BS that was going at work before I was put on bedrest.

Updates- I see my OB tomorrow and the perinatalogist on Tuesday.  Grandma is coming to visit today.  We'll see if my blood pressure skyrockets and if I end up in L&D again tonight.  LOL!!

Question of the Day - What is one thing you DON'T miss while being on bedrest?

Answer- I don't miss work.  I miss the freedom of being able to go out and do things, but I don't miss all the BS that was going at work before I was put on bedrest. <<ME! Jennifer said exactly what I would have said. My job was ridiculous. I have Monday and Tuesday to finish my resume!

Updates- I feel fine. Hungry as I can't ever decide what to eat aside from fruit. Mom came over yesterday and cleaned and did laundry :-). Today DH agreed to finish the nursery (doubtful) while I relax on the couch and fold LO's clothes and give instructions. Oh! and DH and I snuck out last night for dinner at Bonefish for our birthday. Yum.

    Date Placed on Bedrest - 11/24 - 28w,. 4d

Type - Modified bedrest at home

    Why - PTL/contractions

Question of the Day - What is one thing you DON'T miss while being on bedrest?

Answer - That's easy - WORK! I do miss not having to stick to a strict budget, but I definitely don't miss the headache and stupid comments from co-workers on a daily basis. I do still work from home a few hours, but it's SO MUCH NICER to be removed from the people in the office and only having to talk to them when absolutely necessary.

Updates- OB appointment tomorrow. I am anxious to see how much further dilated I am, and what kind of progress I am making (if any). I've felt really weird this week, more discharge, more sharp cramps even while being on the terbutaline, etc.

    Type - modified

Why - IC (permanent transabdominal cerclage)

    Updates-

I tripped on the sidewalk on the way to brunch...my left pinky took the brunt and hit the top of my belly.

We went to L&D and they did a full u/s including a cervix check...everything looks good and baby was moving all around.  No bleeding, so hopefully nothing will start.

I have an appointment with my MFM tomorrow so I'll follow-up with him then.

And I'll definitely be doppler happy for the next few days.
  • Name - Elizabeth

    Due Date - 1/30

Date Placed on Bedrest - 12/30; hospitalized on 12/30

Type - Strict bed rest at home

Question of the Day - What is one thing you DON'T miss while being on bedrest?

Answer- I don't miss feeling like I need to run around and do a million errands... but now that I am laying here all I want to do is run a million errands

Updates- I see my OB tomorrow and the perinatalogist on Wednesday.  I am hoping not to end up in L & D tomorrow after my doctors appointment. I also find out if we are going to have a c section on Friday or if we induce this weekend. So there is light at the end of the bed rest tunnell.

Updates- Had to go to urgent care today for my damn arm.  I woke up in so much pain this morning that my arm was shaking and I couldn't stop crying.  Unfortunately they can't really do anything except give me Tylenol with codeine, and a brace.  Wooo hooo lol!!
  • Name - Michelle

    Due Date - 4/20

Date Placed on Bedrest - at 14wks

    Type - Modified Bed Rest

Why - Herniated Disks in Back

Question of the Day - What is one thing you DON'T miss while being on bedrest?

Answer- I'm going with the popular answer of the day--work!  My job was super high-pressure with lots of hours.  And my boss was being a total a-hole about my pregnancy and the issues I was having.  I was spending every day in tears, especially once my back started hurting.  I also had a co-worker make some really nasty comments about my pregnancy and maternity clothes that just made me want to quit.

Update-Nothing new here.  Same old, Same old!

Cora--I'm so sorry about your arm.  I don't know what to tell you since I'm currently trying to find a mind level that blocks out pain!  When I get there, I'll give you the answers! :-)  Keep focused on the end game and picture yourself cuddling with LO.

Celine--So scary!  I hope that all is well.  Remember to be extra careful and hold onto someone when you are on the ice!  Glad to hear that your LO seems to have faired fine, but I'm sad for your pinky!

I know a lot of you ladies have doc appts and tests this week.  You'll all be in my prayers and thoughts.  Please keep us updated and here's baby staying dust to you all!!

  • BWT, has anyone heard from Lesley?  She's usually on here early and now I'm wondering if all is ok?  I know she's so close to making it...hope all is well!!!
