Pregnant after a Loss

Someone please expalin infant shoe sizes to me!!

I love shoes! Looove them! However I haven't really bought any for Madelyn yet as I can't get my brain wrapped around the sizes. What is the smallest size? A 1 or a 0? Is the smallest size equal to a newborn size? A 0-3 months? How does it go up from there?

What size have you bought for your newborn?  A three month old? A six month old?  Or are you just supposed to wait and see how their feet grow?

THANKS!!

  • I am clueless when it comes to sizes!  I have like maybe 6 pairs, I think every pair is a bigger size... starting with "crib shoes" as they are called.  It isn't easy to buy shoes when you are Team Green!  So what I have are just either white, white w/yellow or a really cute pair of olive colored Converse I found that I HAD to buy!

  • I didn't really start putting Claire in any shoes until she was 6 months or so... partly b/c they wouldn't stay on, but mostly because of this product:

image Amazon sells a ton of Trumpette Socks at about $25 per set and there are soooo many varieties.  They were by far the cutest baby item I had.

At around 6 months, I started putting her in Robeez which are also very cute.  Not until she started cruising, did I really do shoes.

  • Oh, and Robeez come in sizes based on age... 0-6 months, 6-12 months, etc. which I found true to size.

  • Its hard to tell what your LO will be in until they are here. DD was sooo tiny. She xouldnt wear shoes until 4 months. When she started walking at 9 months, she was a 3. She stayed in a 3 until the following summer at 16 months. Then moved to a 4. I would by a 1 and leave it at that. And wait until LO is here for more.

  • I bought DD shoes in newborn size and she couldnt even fit them until about3-4 months. I havent bought DS any shoes yet because I know they arent going to fit, so there really is no point in buying any.
  • I say wait and see!  DD had pretty tiny feet and what was recommended as 3-6 or 6-12 was too big for her.
  • I'm glad you asked this!  I may just do socks at first then wait til she gets here.  I have huge feet (size 11) so Sarah Beth probably will be cursed with my flintstone feet, lol.
  • Hard soled shoes aren't very practical from the get go, I know they're cute though, DS never let us put them on! :)

We did trumpette socks (the boys tennis shoes ones) and then around 4 months we bought robeez (sized by months, DS was always smaller than the sizes) and he wore those until he could walk.  When he was walking at 12 months we got size 3's (he has tiny feet) and from there have bought him a few cute pairs of converse and other shoes as he's grown.  He's just now moving into a size 5.

  • I've found that shoe sizes completely vary between brands. ?DS wears a size 4 right now in Robeez Mini Shoez, a 4.5 in Umis, a 6-12 month in Pedi Peds, and he has a pair of 6-12 month Riley Roos that are HUGE on him. ?

Honestly, shoes are pretty pointless when they are little. ?If you want to buy one pair for fun, get a size 1. ?But they don't need them until they start cruising, and even then it's recommended that you keep them in socks as much as possible. ?DS didn't start wearing shoes until October, when he started crawling and cruising.

Whatever you buy, make sure it has a soft, flexible sole. ??
