Pacifier Marks on Face?

For the last couple days DD has been getting indentations of her paci on her face.  We use the MAM pacis, and have been using them for about 2 months, but all of the sudden this starts.

Is she just sucking too hard?  I tried giving her one of her old Soothie pacis to give her face a break, but she wants nothing to do with it.  The marks have been staying there for a long time.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Re: Pacifier Marks on Face?

  • We have that problem when we give him any paci but a soothie. It's from them sucking so hard. It's not that big of a deal I guess, unless you're taking pics!

  • Yep. Sharkie gets a little too into it sometimes. I just try and limit his use of them (easier said than done).
  • Yeah, it just looks so red and like it hurts!

She doesn't take a paci all the time, but she does she she's sleeping so when she wakes up there is this hilarous outline all around her mouth.

Oh well, as long as it's not hurting her then I guess I won't worry about it.

  • This has been happening to Pierce lately, too.  My mom said it happened to me and my brother when we were babies, too.  It doesn't hurt them, so I don't worry too much about it.

  • Same here. DD is a big sucker and always gets the marks. I asked the pedi at her last appt and she said she's just a strong sucker and it's not a big deal.

  • We've tried the avent pacifiers - they have some with extra venting - and that seems to work well.
