Suits / Work clothes

Hi Ladies,

I am only 14 weeks but my work suits do not fit anymore.  I have to wear suits (or at least a blazer) for court.  Any recommendations for fashionable office appropriate suits separates to get me through the pregnancy.  I was about a size 14 prior to pregnancy and was thinking of maybe just trying a plus size blazer and seeing how that would work out...anyone gone that route?

Thanks!

Re: Suits / Work clothes

  • My rec would be to go up a size or 2. Try Good will or another resale shop. That way you are not spending a ton. I know Goodwill and Value Village always have a great selection of blazers, I used to have to wear them at work also.

  • I would stalk the resale shops. I just bought the cutest dress for $2 at one in Vancouver. Also the big consignment events are all coming up and they always have maternity clothing. Going up a size or two is a great idea for the short term. When you're in you're third trimester you'll need actual maternity clothing but not too much, you'll only need it for a very short time. I would also try JC Penny, I found some great deals on work clothing there, not the most fashionable but they had a better selection for work appropriate attire. Also the Motherhood Maternity Outlets are great, I scored huge at the one in Troutdale during my last pregnancy. They carry items from all of their stores like Mimi and A Pea in a Pod. And lastly, hit up Old Navy. Their stuff isn't the best quality, but its not like it has to last for very long.
  • Just wanted to let folks know that I found some pretty good stuff at JC Penney - not somewhere I would normally shop, so I was pleasantly surprised.  Got some black dress pants, black pencil skirt, white blouse and a couple of sweaters all for around $10-$20, so I thought that was great.  Still searching for a blazer though (mimi/pea in the pod had ones that were $250, WTF!!).  I have just been leaving mine unbuttoned for the time being.

  • I know this is a little late, but I really like the maternity work pants from Motherhood. I bought them early in my pregnancy and they've lasted me all the way through. They're classic and COMFY! I think they have some nice tops too, but I didn't really need them. I just got tops at ROSS. They're cheap. ;)
