I was thinking...didn't they have your name and phone number? Why wouldn't they verify that you were the same person? If I were you I would contact a manager on duty or the store manager. Truthfully I think they owe you a Sophie. I used to work retail (at Macys ironically) and they had logs in place for lost and found, they should not have been so careless. They had your info.
