low/high fluid

I've been reading a number of posts stating low/high fluid. How did your doctor know? what were your symptoms?

Re: low/high fluid

  • It is something that has to be measured with an ultrasound.

  • Are growth ultrasounds common? I never had one with DD and no mention for this LO. Also, no one I know has had a growth ultrasound unless they measured too small.

I had one because at 29 weeks my fundal (sp?) was measuring 34/35 weeks.  So they did an ultrasound and my fluid levels are high and the baby is measuring big. I don't have GD and i have been measuring perfect the whole time until then so they don't know what has caused it.

  • I'm measuring a little low. I know this because I went in for monitoring after some decreased movement, and the u/s showed low levels. I have a follow-up u/s Monday, so well see how it goes from there.

  • Yup ultrasound. My dr sends all her patients for ultrasounds at 37 weeks to check things like this. Actually I went today for my ultrasound and the tech said before she started why was she sending me so late for an ultrasound.....I guess not all dr's do this...mine fluid level was fine though.

No symptoms.  I went in for my 36-37w growth ultrasound and she measured my fluid at 8cm.  Then they sent me for a NST.  Fluid leels lower as you approach your due date and the baby doesn't have as much wiggle room either.  That is why in my earlier posting I said I think I am farther along and closer to delivery than my regular due date.
