How did you find your pedi?

I know it's early to be thinking about this, but it's been a slow day at work. 

SIL assumes that we will use the same pedi as her since she loves him.  I've heard not good things about him from coworkers and friends, and he sent my niece (at a year old) home with a 105 fever when she could barely hold her head up she was so sick from Rotovirus, telling SIL it was just one of those bugs kids get.  They had to call an ambulance not an hour after leaving the doctor and she ended up in the hospital for a week.

We are the first in our group of friends to have kids, so I don't really have anyone to ask.

Once you tell work, ask your coworkers.  They will have loads of advice (maybe too much!).  And you can ask friends of friends (we're one of the first in our group to have a baby, too).

I asked my OB for a rec.  We'll be using the same pedi she uses for her own kids.

I asked several mommas at my church and a few of my friends.

well i went w/ my SIL's pedi's practice but didn't get the same pedi.  Ask around, ask us, ask your coworkers, friends, etc.  Look at their websites and see if you get a good feel for them.  I think you can also arrange appts to meet them once you get it narrowed down

We relied on our NICU nurses to recommend a pedi - we were having a hard time finding a pedi that was taking new patients and we didn't have the time or energy to interview random doctors.

Recommendations from DH's coworkers who are on the same insurance plan.  (So that way we got recommendations we KNEW accepted our insurance.)  It was almost unanimous for the group we chose and we love them.

Took the recommendation of a very picky co-worker...I figure if he's good enough to satisfy her he'll do...We met w/ him and got a very good vibe.

We took the NICU's advice since we had a different situation.  It happened to be the group that we had heard such great things about anyway.  It is the same group MrsB uses and we LOVE LOVE LOVE them.  It really makes a difference if you trust and love your pedi, so take your time

My ob (dr. davis at b'ham ob/gyn) recommended the pedi she uses for her kids.  Maybe you could ask your ob?
