Someone posted about how they don't like animals indoor regardless of what kind of animal..This reminds me of my husband so much. We host my family for Christmas and my sister brings her minature weiner dog... Mostly she keeps him in our basement but one year I let her bring him up to our family room and sit on her lap.. Well she let him basically hang out on the couch as he wished... When my family left DH was so grossed out he made me scrub down the couch with soapy water. He said "I have never been mad at your sister but when she was scolding our girls for touching the couch with their fingers because they'd been eating something with their hands and then she just lets her dog rub his @ss all over our couch (he just was sitting there mind you) right after he's been out in our yard taking a sh!t...."

Some people just don't like pets. Just like some people don't like babies.
DH doesn't like cats, but thats because they can kill him (seriously). Even being in the same room with them for too long leads to a hospital visit. You don't want to know how bad it can be if they touch him....
Its sad, because I LOVE cats and grew up with them.
I HATE cats. Even the ones that I live with. The shed way too much, they stalk me, they are crabby. I have found that cats are allowed by their owners to do things that are often unacceptable behaviors for other kinds of pets. They are allowed to walk all over my kitchen counter tops, sit on my fridge, play behind the tv in all the wires....all of which shouldn't be allowed. Also, every cat I have ever encountered has both bitten and scratched me, even the nice cats. It is unacceptable behavior for my dog to ever bite me, let alone to make me bleed. Yet, I have found that cats are 'allowed' to do this because they are just little cats. Also, they attack my dog and my two year old neice. All. the. time. My dog learned long ago to avoid the cats, yet is being lunged at from behind the couch by a cat as it walks past it. Vicious behavior is not my style and I have never found a cat that didn't have this trait. But thats just me.

wow. You have met crappy cats. Thats not the norm. Also, is it possible you are playing with them in a way thats aggressive? I find it odd that ALL of them have bitten you.
I used to love dogs and hate cats, but then once I had to be around cats when my mom got us one when I was about 14, I completely turned around. I LOVE cats now. I used to think they were stuck up, nasty, and would scratch you. Now I love them, and I don't like dogs as much. Who wants a slobbery, hairy, smelly dog in the house who you constantly have to tend to/walk/take outside when you can have a sweet, low maintenance cat. And they do exist. My cat greets me at the door, loves on me, sleeps at the foot of the bed everynight and would never hurt a fly. Stereotypes of cats are terrible. I feel sorry for people who will never be open minded enough to truly see the love a cat can bring to your life.
I have nothing against cats, I much prefer my dogs though. They don't puke out of anger/revenge, and my dogs never try to be stealthy and sneaky..quite the opposite actually. I adore a good barn cat.
On the same token, being a horse person I can't understand someone being afraid of horses or not liking them.
Horses are huge flight animals!! LOL, horses to us are like cars to most people; a normal way of life..so it's hard to see the fear but coming from someone that has never been around them, I can understand lol
Maybe those who are scared of them just see them as BIG! My younger brother isn't crazy about horses, and he grew up around them. He never minded mine because he was used to them, but strange horses? He'd rather go way out of his way to not be around them, and he had never had anything happen to him with them! LOL

I'm guilty of this. I loved and owned horses when I was younger (okay, ponies) and now DH and I take care of 3 horses-- 2 of them are sulky racehorses. They are much more high-spirited and a lot bigger! They scare me! (But the cow horse who is like 80 years old and lame, I don't mind him!)
I can understand that. I used to train harness racehorses and when you get one race fit, you got some adrenaline on your hands! I guess I shouldn't say much, spiders scare me and they are nowhere near as big as the horses are.
Also, my gelding is 17hh and 1400lbs, and is a gigantic wah-baby who would tip-toe around a crying baby because he gets so very concerned about them. He cares. He cares a lot. LOL
