Two Under 2

Tandem vs.Side By Side Stollers

Which would you recommend, tandem or a side by side stroller?  We're just looking to get one double mostly to use when we're out at the store or mall.

Re: Tandem vs.Side By Side Stollers

  • Tandem - hands down. I think side by sides take up WAY too much room, even the slim ones.

Yesterday, my friend had her Peg Perego Aria double, and she couldn't get through a regular sized doorway at our greek class. We had to open the other door (It was a set of double doors) for her. And that's a slim-lined stroller.

  • Take a look around the next time you're out shopping.

Side by side is almost impossible to navigate in most shopping situations.  They're way too wide.  Single strollers are almost too wide these days in most stores!

Also imagine getting a side by side thru a door by yourself.

Great for joggers but I'm not a fan for shopping situations.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.

  • It's really a personal preference. I am not a fan of tandem strollers. I don't like the look of them, and the ones I tried in store were heavy and difficult to maneuver. They make ones that are smaller - like the Phil and Ted - but I just didn't like it.

I have a Baby Jogger City Mini which is a side by side. I still haven't found a doorway I can't fit through, it's lighter than my single stroller (the Chicco Cortina), and I think it looks cool :)

Don't worry - I found the doorway! LOL! The Aria I'm pretty sure is slimmer than the BJCM, but I can't understand why it couldn't fit through a standard doorway.......

  • It's definitely personal preference.  My H works at an aquarium and sees strollers allllllll day long.  His one request was that we get a tandem because the SBS strollers drive him crazy.  I agree with him and we both fell in love with the P&T
