Will someone please post the cake ball recipe?

Re: Will someone please post the cake ball recipe?

  • Basically, you make a boxed cake mix.  Crumble the cake and then add frosting, 3/4 - full can, until you can form it into balls.  Refrigerate the balls.  Then, dip them in chocolate, bark, or other candy coating.
  • Thanks. What is the best combination (cake batter versus frosting)? I would like to do them for Valentines.

  • I've only ever done Devil's Food Cake (chocolate) with chocolate frosting.  Nothing wrong with those!

  • That makes sense. Thank you.
  • I've heard that they are a PITA to make. Scared me away from making them.

  • I have made them twice and both times I could have stood to use less frosting. Just add enough to make the crumbs stick - no more or else the cakey textures disappears and it is more gooey/moist. I used Trader Joe's solid milk chocolate to dip mine into - they were still delish!
