note to GD folks about Purell

i used purell before taking my sugar yesterday and it was CRAZY high...so i washed my hands and did it again, and it was back down to my normal sort of high....

so, PSA - don't use purell before testing.

in my experience, if you have not just recently washed your hands, the numbers can be way off.  I wash my hands right before testing so that I can be sure my numbers are as accurate as possible.

I've heard something similar from my nutritionist... she said make sure there is no lotion on your hands, either

Also.. . you can use alcohol swabs to clean you fingers if a sink isnt readily available

I just found that mine does the same thing! Your post is what made me think of testing it when I had a high reading this morning for something that normally wouldn't have been! Thanks for sharing. I can stop freaking out now about why my body is reacting differently to meals that are the same It's not!
