S/O of Dinner Poll - Snacks?

Most people said that they don't let their child have snacks after dinner.  Do they not ask for one, or do you not let them?

Often times, DD gets hungry before bed, so she can have a snack.  I can't imagine telling her no?  Tonight she had a half of a banana.  It is always something healthy.

Re: S/O of Dinner Poll - Snacks?

  • My kids (well, Miles) has never asked for a snack after dinner, but we eat at around 6pm, and they have a glass of milk right after, and they go to bed at 7:30.
  • If they asked for one, I'm sure we'd offer one but it has never really been an issue.  We eat at about 6 and the girls' bedtimes are 7, 7:30, and 8.

  • We usually eat dinner at 6 and DS goes to bed at 8, he doesn't really get hungry in 2 hours. If he did get hungry, I would give him something little, but it just doesn't happen.

  • He has never asked. If he did, I would let him have a banana or yogurt (or something).

DS is weird and doesn't ever really eat dinner. He eats breakast and lunch, but no dinner. Maybe a bite or two. That's it.

  • We also eat dinner late around 7 most nights and the kids are in bed at about 8:30 so it isn't an issue.
  • She's never asked for one.  We eat at 5:30 and she goes to bed at 7 though.  DS sometimes has a snack but he stays up until 8:30.
  • He has never asked for one, but if he did, it would be a banana, glass of milk or yogurt. He always eats a fairly large dinner. We eat around 6:00 and he is in bed by 8:30.
  • Ian is a total garbage gut and usually asks for a snack at some point. Sometimes its yogurt, sometimes it is a banana, most of the time it is a cookie or a sucker. And, if he ate a good dinner, I let him have whatever.

  • DD regularly asks for a bedtime snack.  Usually, it's just some Cheerios, peanuts, etc.  But, she does not get it if she chose not to eat dinner.  It is not a replacement for dinner.
