Penguin pics

I have noticed a lot of penguin pictures in people's siggys lately. Is this just something that lots of people like, or is there some meaning behind it that I am not getting? I love the pictures, but am curious to know if there's more to it!

    The penguins are actually a mascot of the IF board. It was chosen for the parents unending desire to perserve the baby penguin. They travel miles in frigid climates with the eggs and babies protected. They take turns protecting the baby while the other goes for food. Their drive to protect the young goes behind family ties. Others will foster etc...We thought it was a fitting mascot for the IF board.
