Nuk vs MAM

Currently DS has been sometimes using the Soothie we got from the hospital.  While it has been serving its purpose of helping to get him to fall asleep, I have heard better things about the Nuk and MAM brands.

I tried to do some research online about the differences, but thought I would get some real opinions too.  Is one shaped more like the breast nipple? Also, if you like the Nuk, do you use the latex or silicone ones?

Any feedback is appreciated.  TIA!

Re: Nuk vs MAM

  • I use silicone Nuks and Avents (DS likes both). I believe we brought a pack of MAM and those are the ones shaped like a breast nipple. DS doesn't grip those as well though. You can tell the difference because Nuk and Avent say orthodontic paci on it.

  • We like the NUK. I think because of the way its shaped, it stays in her mouth better when she is not actually sucking.
  • All DD will take is the MAM pacifiers and when we started on bottles she wouldn't take anything, until that is I found the MAM bottles :) I think the MAM is more like a mothers nipple. It's wider and more of a base to latch onto.

  • DD is EFB and will only take MAM pacifiers. I switched to them after she refused just about everything else.
  • DD loves MAM but we haven't tried Nuk... I'd say use what your LO likes best.
