Progesterone shot girls, help (repost from 2nd Tri)

I need your help. Is this being covered by your insurance? It seems the only place you can get it is from Wedgewood Pharmacy is that right? If so, how much does it cost? I'm all for it to keep LO in there, but I want more details first but can't seem to find any. My Peri's office will order it but they need a credit card first b/c the Pharmacy doesn't bill to insurance. So frustrating.

  • I just finished mine 2 weeks ago...  it was not covered by insurance.  I also went through Wedgewood and my OB would call in the script and then I'd call Wedgewood w/ my CC number.  It ships super fast once you give them your CC number...  I think I got mine w/ in 2 days!

    Good luck.

  • Do you mind if I ask how much it costs? Thanks
  • They send a 10 week supply and w/ shipping it came to $150-$160.  I started my shots at 18 weeks and went until 35 weeks so I needed 2 shipments so in total it was just over $300.
  • Oh that isn't that bad. Thank you. I was imagining like $1000 per week or something crazy.
  • Mine is covered by insurance and the OB office just orders if for me...I'm not sure if they use Wedgewood but I know they use a pharmacy in Iowa and the pharmacist's name is Rick.
  • I have Aetna insurance and it was covered by them. I did have to order the prescription from Aetna speciallity pharmacy since it was a compund mediciation. My copay was 15.00 dollars and the I believe I got around 10 shots out of each bottle. I can't believe the insurance company won't cover the prescription. I took the shots weekly from 17 weeks to 34 weeks. Good Luck!

  • I just finished my shots last week. Mine were covered, with the exception of the co-pay that I had to pay weekly. I had a nurse come to my house to give me the shot.
  • mine are covered but i have a copay each week of $16 but haven't been billed yet. my shots are mailed to my house from a pharmacy.
  • I didn't do the shots, I did the suppositories. My insurance didn't cover it and it was about $100 for 13 weeks of treatment.
