High-Risk Pregnancy

IC and pressure

I have been experiencing pressure on my vagina for the past day. I noticed it several times last night when I was getting out of bed that I would feel pressure when I was moving. I also have been noticing it today when I am standing and walking.

I am 21w 4 d and am starting to get fairly big so I am not sure if this is just normal or something I should call my peri  or OB about. I have a cerclage but don't have any spotting or anything, but am just a little worried.

ANyone know if this is something call worthy? Is this just normal or could this be a sign of my cervix shortening?

Re: IC and pressure

  • I would tell your OB about it.  Whenever I get that feeling I lay down for a while.  It's gotten much better since my doc stopped me from working.

  • Thanks!

I ended up calling and was told to take it extra easy this weekend.

  • I would call and tell your Dr what you are feeling. Maybe they can do a cervical check u/s to make sure your cervix is ok?

  • I don't have IC but have a history of PTL. I've been getting little bouts of pressure since 16wk but it isn't changing my cervix. My OB told me she isn't concerned with it unless it is persistent and doesn't go away when I sit down.
  • Thank you. That makes me feel better. This does go away when i sit down.

My coworker had this kind of pressure earlier on and said it was because her daughter's head was engaged. My last u/s showed our baby's head down toward my pelvis so I wonder if that is possibly it.

I see my OB on Monday so I will hopefully learn more about my cevical length then!

If your baby's head is down it's fairly normal to have pressure down there. The further along you get the more pressure there will be. However I don't remember feeling much pressure until much further along in my pregnancy with DS... and I don't have IC. I hope everything's alright! As long as you're not bleeding/ contracting try not to stress too much (easier said than done... right?)
