I prefer the Layla spelling. Leila looks Hawaiian to me, and, on first glance, I'd pronounce it "Lee-la."
As for the name, it's pretty, but all I think when I hear it is "Got me on my knees, Layla."
(read it. you know you want to.)

Love Layla. We were thinking about it for dd but changed our minds towards the end.
I wanted to spell it Leila but dh thought it would be easier as Layla.

*please excuse my typos, bumping from my iphone*
DH and I both like it, but spelled Laila. We took it off our list when a friend said she thought it sounded like a stripper name.
Layla is my favorite girl name of all time. Problem is I used it 8 years ago on my dog )=
If I hadnt I would name my daughter that in a heartbeat!
I prefer spelling it Layla if you go with that name. I do think of the song...
I grew up with a Leilani pronounced (lay-lah-nee) and I always thought that was a pretty name.
Layla.
And, I LOVE it! It was one of our top contenders until we decided to do all Irish names! Sooooo pretty!
