FB question--and vent

Is there a way to "turn off" the notifications to your friends of everything that you comment on?  Drives me crazy!  I don't want everything I say or comment on advertised to all of my other friends.  I feel like I have a lojack on me or something.  Or am I just screwed if that person (that I am commenting on) has their profile open?

This started because the other day a friend said she saw that I commented on something and clicked on the persons profile and read all about it.  I like to keep some friends and/or family separate.  Just my thang.   It is just one of the many things that annoy me about facebook.  And yes, I am aware that I don't have to be on it, thank you.  :)

This bug anyone else?

  • you can remove your "activities" manually. Just click on your profile and a "remove" button will appear next to each thing you have "done" just click it and it will be removed
  • or go to settings and simply click to avoid having your comments indicated on your own page.
  • Loading the player...
  • If you go to your privacy settings you should be able to change that.

  • I am still confused.  I see how to do it manually on my page...but is there a way to stop them from appearing on others news feeds without doing it one  by one?  I looked in privacy settings and just saw notifications to me from facebook, but not a way to stop notifications to others in their news feeds.  I must be missing something.
  • yes you are.  keep looking.
  • thank you oh wise one.  I'll bite, where is it?
  • I'm confused.  Are you saying that when you comment on someone else's status update, it shows up in a different friend's newsfeed?  Even if they aren't friends with each other?  Because it should only show up in their newsfeed if the original status update is in their newsfeed.

  • This is what happened with me, and I have seen it with others on my newsfeed:  I commented on a photo and one of my friends said that she saw it and clicked on it and read it (because that person apparently had an open profile).  I have seen it on my own where someone will comment on a photo--of someone I am not friends with-- and it shows up in my newsfeed.  It is really weird.
