Bed Rest Mamas Check-In *Wednesday*

This thread is for any and all mamas on bedrest, in any form. We are stuck home or in the hospital, in a bed or on our couches, and could use the support of each other to make it through this time in order to get to a healthy baby! We all know how hard bedrest is and we wish everyone a healthy pregnancy!!!! Anyone is welcome to join, and anyone can start this daily thread. Just copy and paste this paragraph and info lines below if you get here and the thread has yet to start for that day!

Name - Lesley

Due Date - 2/10

Date Placed on Bedrest - restricted activity/pelvic rest at 18 weeks; modified 12/10; hospitalized 12/16

Type - Hospitalized Modified bed rest

Why - Vasa previa/(possible) pregnancy induced hypertension

Question of the Day - What is the first thing that you bought for LO (or plan to if you haven't already)?

Answer -It took me quite awhile to buy anything for him because I was so freaked out.  I saw this adorable blue onesie with a plaid airplane on it and knew that I had to buy it...DH likes planes and trains.  I felt a lot better once I did buy it.

Updates - Yesterday was thankfully much quieter than Monday...lots of BH last night but nothing major.  Only a week left!  IndifferentSmile

**Welcome to all the new ladies!  I'm sorry you've had to join us but it will all be worth it to keep those babies cooking a bit longer!

I'm happy you passed the GD test, Michelle.  I'm sorry about the other news though, hopefully the rest of your pregnancy will go smoothly and there won't be any more things added to your list.

I hope everyone had a better day yesterday as it seems like most of us had some sort of "excitement" on Monday.  Take care of yourselves and those precious babies!**

Updates - I got off Magnesium Sulfate this morning (yay cause that stuff burned). I am now on procardia to stop contractions. I will be taking the fetal fibronectin test at 3pm today. If it is negative, I go home. If it is positive I guess I stay here...that wasn't fully determined yet. I showered today! Haha DH packed me 3 lotions and body spray and body wash - no bar of soap, toothpaste, or deodorant haha. Sadly, I was denied a wheelchair ride so I haven't left the room in three days.

Question of the Day - What is the first thing that you bought for LO (or plan to if you haven't already)?

Answer - I bought baby bedding on the weekend.  Got a great deal and it has a 90 day return policy which I hope I do not need to use.  Completely freaked out that I actually bought it, planning on keeping it at a friend's place for now.

  • Name - Nic

    Due Date - 2/12

    Date Placed on Bedrest - 11/24 - 28w, 4d

Type - modified bedrest at home

    Why - contractions/PTL

Question of the Day - What is the first thing that you bought for LO (or plan to if you haven't already)?

Answer - DH is in love with the Buffalo Bills, so before we were even TTC I had two Buffalo Bills onesies and a pacifier hidden upstairs in our office. I gave it to him after I gave him the positive pregnancy test. So that was the first "thing" I bought for the baby you could say. Then the next thing was the stroller and nursery bedding set.

Updates - Nothing major, just hanging out around the house. Keeping my feet more elevated, since I was rocking the sexy cankles last night. My ankles and feet were so swollen. Tongue Tied

*****Good luck Lesley, I can't believe you only have a week left! I only have a week left of bedrest, so I'm getting anxious as to when he will make his debut as well!!***

  • Name - Michelle/miaomi

    Due Date - 4/20

Date Placed on Bedrest - at 14wks

    Type - Modified bed rest

Why - Herniated disks in back

Question of the Day - What is the first thing that you bought for LO (or plan to if you haven't already)?

Answer- I bought some cute knitted hats at a craft fair.  I was so nervous and didn't buy anything for a long time, but loved the hats and they were super cheap.  After that I waited till I found out the sex...then I bought a pink onsie.

Updates:  Had my first BH's today.  It was such a crazy feeling.  I had 2 of them in about a 1/2 hour while I was talking on the phone to my lil sis.  Other than that, things are pretty much the same around here.  Sorry for being such a downer yesterday ladies...I was just frustrated and needed to vent!  Talked with my doc today, who said irritability and sadness are a side-effect of anemia..can you imagine my poor husband?  Dealing with pregnancy hormones was bad enough, now I might turn into a real b*tch!  :-) But, really, everything's going to turn out fine I'm sure and I need to kick myself for being such a baby.  After all, every day where we keep our LO's cooking is a great day!

Take care of yourselves on this Wed and remember...you've made it another 1/2 a week.  How time flies!

  • Name - Lauren

    Due Date - 3/23

Date Placed on Bedrest - 1/4 but i have been on and off bedrest throughout my pg

    Type - hospitalized strict bedrest

    Why - IUGR

Question of the Day - What is the first thing that you bought for LO (or plan to if you haven't already)?

Answer -I realized that other than the crib/changing table I bought my first outfits for little buddy on New Years Eve day--I guess I had been subconsciously waiting to buy him outfits/clothes because I never knew what size to get (preemie, newborn, etc.)

Updates - I am still having good NST's daily and they let me go for a wheelchair ride last night and DH took me up to the nursery and seeing the cute little babes definitely brightened my spirits--I found out that I will def. be here for 2 more week on the strict hospitalized bed rest and then I will be facing either an amnio and induction or more strict hospitalized bedrest for as long as I can keep little buddy growing in me (he has stopped growing currently but I am hoping in 2 weeks when they redo my u/s the bedrest will have jumpstarted his growth) Im working on not going stir crazy--Ive heard the 1st week of strict bedrest in the hospital is the worst but I keep telling myself that every day the baby stays in me is 3 days less in an incubator (or so my special care OB nurse says) glad to have this update with you guys though! its nice knowing other people are going through this tough stuff too!

  • Lauren,

It's true that the first week is the worst.  It's hard to adjust to your new reality.  But you will, I promise.  There are still hard days for me and I've been on bedrest for um..12wks now.  But for the most part, after the first or second week, you find a rythem and get used to it.  Keep focusing on your LO.  I rub my belly, pay attention to her every movement and am so thankful to keep her safe and cooking.  I've heard daily gain by keeping LO in as well.  Pay attention to that.  Every day you make it on bedrest is another day that give your LO a much better shot at coming home to Momma asap!  Keep your head up and you baby cookin!

  • Name - Cora

    Due Date - 1/23

Date Placed on Bedrest -11/21 31w

    Type - Modified Bedrest/Restricted Activity

    Why - PTL

Question of the Day - What is the first thing that you bought for LO (or plan to if you haven't already)?

Answer - I'm very fortunate that my mother when completely ape sh*t when it came to me getting pregnant! She's bought enough NB diapers to keep us supplied for the 1st month maybe 2, then she bough clothes, and even cooking tools (yes I said cooking tools...measuring cups, muffin pans, etc.) specifically for Kayleigh.  The few things we did go out and get were a couple outfits, washcloths, whipes, and onesies.  My patients have also been supplying us with enough home made blankets to give my child a complex!
