Is this normal pelvic pain?

Whenever I wake up in the middle of the night (or even in the morning) it kills me to walk because of what I can describe as pelvic pain. The best way to describe where the pain is (sorry if this is TMI) is that its where the hair is. Its killer! I can barely walk it hurts so bad. It takes about an hour for it to work itself out and then its fine for the rest of the day until I go to sleep at night. Does anyone else have this problem? What do you do for it? TIA;

Re: Is this normal pelvic pain?

  • omg i called my dr for this yesterday... and i used your words "where the hair is"... Im 29 weeks, and he said its totally normal.. Yesterday i was laying on the couch and it just started killing...
  • This is PSD (Pubic Symphysis Diastasis) - I posted about it right before you did.  I included a link too that describes it.

    I am in so much pain but I've mentioned it to my doctors, nurses, and anyone else who will listen and all they say is "it's normal".

    I am usually so good w/ pain but I can barely stand it...it hurts to do anything.

  • Exactly the same here. Trying to roll over (by lifting my pelvis) in bed at night is incredibly painful and shocking when you are half asleep. Then walking to the bathroom usually hurts a bit less, but I read it is normal. I just wish I could explain/describe it better to DH, as I've never felt pain in my pelvic bones before.
  • I've been having this pain for almost 10 weeks now :( I asked my OB and she said it has to do with the hormone relaxin (sp?) Which helps the muscles stretch to get ready for labor. She said it hurts worse after laying down because the muscles get almost stiff from not moving, and that getting up and moving around can help. I dread rolling over in bed and getting up for my 5 nightly bathroom runs. She said its normal, but if it gets really bad try Tylenol or a heating pad on low. Hope you feel better soon!!
  • I've had that too.  Mine was the worst when I would try to change sides in the middle of the night.  The only advice I have is that my OB said it helps sometimes to sit up first, then roll over.  Rather than just trying to change sides while laying down.  It has helped somewhat.
  • me too. worse when I try to turn at night or when i stand on one leg to put pants on. otherwise, i don't really feel it. i wish my body knew that i was going to have to have a c-section so that it didn't have to work on opening my pelvis.
