Well, I just got back, and I have to say that I feel a lot better and also still overwhelmed. The positives are that I really like my nutritionalist, she is super nice. I now feel more in control and educated, and have a plan now on what to eat. The overwhelming part is all of the stuff I now have to do. I HAVE TO stick to this plan, which means I have to learn so much about serving sizes, and counting carbs, etc. And the timing of the meals and snacks have to be followed. Plus I have to test my blood 4 times a day... by poking my finger... yuck. AND I have to test my urine everyday as well. So much to do! But luckily, I can still have some of the sweets I like, but just in moderation.
Here's to getting it under control!

You can do it. The first two weeks you'll just need to make it all routine and then it'll feel less overwhelming.
My advice? Research meal combos that fit your allowances and then just rotate them. For example, I get 30 g/carb for breakfast and snacks and 45g/carb for lunch and dinner. So in the beginning I came up with combos that I knew fit those allowances (and also incorporated enough protein/fat/fiber to leave me satisfied and enough variety to be nutritious) and have pretty much just stuck with them this entire time (I am going on 8 weeks with GD now).
Makes life a lot easier. I also write down everything I eat, the time and the portions. That way if you get a high reading, you can see if your overdid it or if your body just didn't cooperate. I also note things like lack of sleep, stress, illness, etc. because those can affect your numbers too.
If you do over-indulge slightly, remember exercise is the best way to manage the numbers. Walking 10-30 minutes after meals makes a HUGE difference. Or just marching in place. Movement is key. Good luck, you can do it!
