How do I know if my pump is working?

I have a Pump in Style that I bought used at a garage sale before having DS (who is now 17 months).  Now that DD is here I've been pumping w/ the same pump (my own new parts obviously).  I'm only able to get about 1 oz 1 and half if lucky from my good side and like .5 oz from the other.  In the a.m. I got 2oz from the good side and 1 from the other.  How do I know my pump is working properly?  Obviously it gets some out but how do I know if I need a new one?

I do not have this pump, but a friend of mine does.  She had the same issue and was able to take it to a breastfeeding store in our area called "Baby Beloved."  The tested the suction for her.  I wonder if you can look into something like that?

I would call Madela - they can probably walk you through some things to check.  I've heard they have fabulous customer service.

I bought mine new..and am having the same issue...I'm getting 1 oz maybe total on my first pump in the am, then maybe 5ml each time after that...
