Trying to Get Pregnant

Clomid and BBT

Should I just assume that combined with different waking times, the 50 mg Clomid I took totally messed with my BBT?  Mine went up 0.5 deg two days in a row, but immediately went back down.  Also, I've had a bunch of thicker CM than before since then.  Haven't even updated my chart, because it's too screwy to interpret.

Re: Clomid and BBT

  • Clomid can affect your temperature.  It has never impacted mine to the point I couldn't pinpoint ovulation, though.  If you're being monitored, it's not a big deal, they'll know when you ovulate, but I wouldn't abandon a chart based on 5 temperatures, personally.

  • Hey there :) Can you update your chart?  Clomid can cause your temp to rise, but usually only during the days you take it.  Your temp should go back down in time for you to see the temp shift that marks ovulation.  GL!
  • Update your chart, the more information the better. Clomid raises temps, but they'll go down again before the shift up.

    GL.

  • Like the other ladies have said, I experienced higher temps this cycle, but only while I was taking Clomid. Once the pills were done, my temp dropped back down to normal before shifting up again after ovulation.

Is this your first cycle on Clomid?

  • updated the middle part of my chart :)

The first part of the cycle (e.g. when I was taking it) I didn't do all the temps...holiday travels and staying at the in-laws didn't exactly make me feel like thinking about it.

Yes-first cycle on clomid (and maybe last for awhile--the side effects weren't too bad, but DH is not keen on it)  Thanks!

  • Judging from your chart, you just haven't ovulated yet. Even though your temps are erratic, you should still notice a shift after you ovulate.

Which cycle days did you take Clomid?

  • I had all the side pain for 3-4 days right around CD14.  Took the clomid Days 5-9.
  • It's not uncommon for Clomid to make you ovulate later than usual (like CD17-20). I know you said you have the pains, but I have had twisting/pulling pains for a good week around ovulation time.

I guess only time will tell. Good luck!

  • If it keeps going up, I would imagine you'll get your CH for CD15.

    Very true. I overlooked that.

So yeah, OP... you may have ovulated already, you just need to stick it out a few more days to see if the temps stay up to confirm!

  • OK, dumb question--what's CH?  Don't see it in the bump glossary.  I'm so glad I can talk about this stuff with all y'all.
