GD delivering early?

If you are diagnosed with GD, do they usually induce you early?  How early?

Re: GD delivering early?

  • I don't think they do unless your baby is measuring excessively large.

  • My OB is hoping to induce at 39 weeks because I am on NPH insulin.    GD can cause premature placental aging, which is one of the primary reasons that you will probably be monitored with multiple NST's and BPP's.
  • I had GD and was only induced at 40 weeks.  My numbers were under control and the baby was not measuring large (born at 7 lbs 7 oz).

  • Since my baby is measuring in the 80%-tile, I will be induced on my due date.

If he goes over the 90%-tile, I will have a c/s the 39th week.

My doc won't induce until I go past 40 weeks.

  • I was on insulin, so I was induced at 39 weeks even though baby only weighed 6 lbs 10 oz.

Wow.  Were you induced because they thought the baby was bigger or just because of your insulin?  I am trying to make a connection.  I am on insulin and my doc has said that she'll only induce if I go past 40 weeks (my baby is not measuring too big).

My doc said she induces all GD moms between 39-40 weeks. She was aware of LO's weight, so I was induced simply because of the GD diagnosis. However, she was concerned about my insulin usage as well. I know all docs have different opinions regarding induction and GD.
