Bright red bleeding day after appt?

I left a msg with nurse but did anyone have bright red bleeding the day after after an appt in which Dr checked cervix and did an external U/S? I have not had any bleeding at all with this pregnancy so I am worried. I am 10 weeks if that matters.

Re: Bright red bleeding day after appt?

  •
My doctor warned me about bleeding the day he did a pap smear and checked my cervix. He told me that I might see some blood for the nest few days after the exam and not to worry because it's not from the baby but rather the exam and the cervix.

Just call and speak to your doctor but don't freak out. I'm sure it'll be fine.

    exactly this

  • My Dr told me it would be normal to be spotting today (I had my 1st appt today), something having to do with the position of the cervix or something. She said it was common to experience spotting from the exam. I think that you're probably fine but I know you'll feel better when the nurse calls you back and tells you.
  • Almost 100% sure they will say it's ok because you were just checked but always call for red bleeding just so they are aware of it.
  • Thank you girls so much. I can't tell you how much it eased my mind to read your responses. Thanks for taking the time to respond - please know you made someones day infinitely better. (Sitting at work freaking out about bleeding is not a good way to spend the day). I'll post what the nurse says but I am sure it will be similar to what you've all said. Thank you!

  • Yes,

I just went through this. I went to the Dr. last Monday for an exam and the next few days  I had bright red spotting. They took my HCG levels and everything came back ok. The nurse explained to me that our cervix is much more sensitive now and any irritation and cause it to bleed so an exam, intercourse can cause bleeding. Personally, if it last more than a few days or gets heavier I would call your Dr.

  • Thanks again - spoke to nurse who said to come in so they could check me out and give me a Rhogam shot (I'm RH-). Dr checked cervix (fine), did U/S (fine) and gave me a Rhogam shot. She said is not uncommon and could last up to 2 weeks and to call if gets worse or lasts more than 2 weeks. It actually seems to be tapering off/stopping (fingers crossed), so I am hoping is all ok. Nervewracking though!
