Bed Rest Mamas Check-In *Tuesday*

This thread is for any and all mamas on bedrest, in any form. We are stuck home or in the hospital, in a bed or on our couches, and could use the support of each other to make it through this time in order to get to a healthy baby! We all know how hard bedrest is and we wish everyone a healthy pregnancy!!!! Anyone is welcome to join, and anyone can start this daily thread. Just copy and paste this paragraph and info lines below if you get here and the thread has yet to start for that day!

Name - Lesley

Due Date - 2/10

Date Placed on Bedrest - restricted activity/pelvic rest at 18 weeks; modified 12/10; hospitalized 12/16

Type - Hospitalized Modified bed rest

Why - Vasa previa/(possible) pregnancy induced hypertension

Question of the Day - What are you looking forward to most once LO arrives (other than not being on bed rest Stick out tongue)?

Answer -  I can't wait to snuggle on the couch with my DH, LO, and puppy as a family.  I also can't wait until it warms up and I can pop my little guy in the sling and explore this city.  We haven't lived here too long and it will be nice to have a traveling companion of sorts...if he agrees with it.  Smile

Updates - I had a very scary/exciting day yesterday.  I had a bit of pinkish red discharge so I had a bedside u/s.  Everything is still closed up tightly thankfully!  They monitored the baby all afternoon and night and he still looks great and is moving around a bunch.  There's no logical explanation for what happened but all the doctors agreed that with all the extra monitoring and findings they were confident that we would be okay.  They may just bump up the amount of checks during the day which I'm okay with.  He just needs to hold on for 8 more days!

**You're getting closer, Nic!  Keep up the good work!

Yay for quiet days, Becca!  You're doing great!

Good luck at your appointment today, Morgan!

Michelle, I hope you get good news or no news today!  My LO danced for hours after the glucola too.  They like their sugar Big Smile

I'm so happy that you're in the safe zone, Cora, and that there is some progress.  You've done an amazing job getting your little girl to this point!

Thanks for the good thoughts coming my way!  I appreciate it!**

Answer -  I'm looking forward to seeing the personalities of my boys develop.  How will they be alike or different?

Updates - I had 5 hours worth of dr/waiting yesterday between my regular OB and high risk dr....was given the choice to come home or be admitted, chose to come home because the only thing they would do in the hospital is hook me up to the fetal monitors twice a day...wondering if I made the right decision???

  • Hi I'm new here Smile

    Name - Gina

    Due Date - 2/17

Date Placed on Modified Bedrest as of yesterday.  I was told to stay off my feet as much as possible, no lifting, etc.  Pretty much try to do as little as possible.

    Type - Modified bed rest

Why - Pre-term labor.  Contracting every 3-5 minutes.

Question of the Day - What are you looking forward to most once LO arrives (other than not being on bed rest Stick out tongue)?

Answer -  I can't wait to hold him.  It's been so long since we first started trying and I can't believe he is almost here.

Updates - I had a very scary day yesterday.  I went in for my normal check up, and mentioned that I haven't been feeling him as much as normal.  I also had a growth u/s scheduled for later on in the day so I was given an Rx to be monitored.  Turns out that he is doing wonderfully but I was having contractions every 3-5 minutes.  I didn't even know it, I had only felt the really big ones and I thought they were normal bh.  I was sent to the hospital and was monitored for a few hours, given two bags of fluids and a shot to calm the contractions.  My cervix was high and closed thank God.  I go back on friday to the Dr for another check.  I'm pretty freaked out by the whole thing.  He needs to stay in there for at least another 2-3 weeks.  He's only 5 lbs.

  • Name - Nic

    Due Date - 2/12

    Date Placed on Bedrest - 11/24 - 28w, 4d

Type - modified bedrest at home

Why - contractions, PTL and a fingertip dilated

Question of the Day - What are you looking forward to most once LO arrives (other than not being on bed rest Stick out tongue)?

Answer -  Well I was going to say not being on bedrest anymore, but since that answer is already taken. Stick out tongue  I can't wait to just be a family, DH, LO and my 3 dogs. I can't wait to put him in the stroller and walk through the neighborhood. I really can't wait until I can move around without feeling like everything I do is a huge task!

Updates - I can feel the nesting instinct starting to kick in. I had DH fix a shelf in our kitchen cabinets, then proceeded to organize said shelf with all of the crap we have. I had DH pick up a couple sweat pant suits for me to wear after LO arrives. I'm hoping to have my hospital bag packed by this weekend.

  • Name - Michelle/miaom

    Due Date - 4/20

Date Placed on Bedrest - at 14wks

    Type -  Modified bed rest

Why - Herniated disks in back from m/s

Question of the Day - What are you looking forward to most once LO arrives (other than not being on bed rest Stick out tongue)?

Answer-this is a tough one for me.  We are not sure if my back will be better after I give birth or if I may need surgery for it.  I'm going to be positive though, and pretend like things get better.  In that case, I can't wait to take Olivia and my puppies and DH for a long awaited walk!  My poor dogs haven't been going on walks for 14weeks now.  That's a long time!  And we live in beautiful Duluth, MN with tons of lovely trails.  I'm also just looking forward to cuddling my baby and spending lots of bonding time with her.  I can't wait to see my DH with our baby girl.  I have a feeling she's gonna have him wrapped around her little finger in no time.

Updates:  Well, had a dissapointing call from the doc today.  I passed my GD test, but my hemoglobin was alarming low.  So now they are going to put me on iron suppliments, even though they had wanted to avoid that due to my acid reflux and lack of eating.  I'm feeling really frustrated that I'm not gaining the average weight let along catching up and now I have to do something that's going to make me feel worse.  I'm just angry that it seems like there is always one problem after another.  But I'm trying really hard to focus on the fact that I passed my GD test and that things really could be worse.  Thanks for listening to me b*tch ladies!

Welcome Gina and Chelsea!  Sorry you have to be here, but this is a great place for support when the going gets rough.  You ladies just hang in there and keep those babies cooking.  You can make it!

Gina, 5lbs is pretty darn good.  Keep the faith, your LO will be great!  I'm sure you can make it a little longer and keep putting the chub on that baby.

Lesley...very scary!  Glad to hear all is well though.  I'll be praying for you to make it through the next 8 days with no more problems!

Jennifer...I'm sure you made the right decision.  Your insticts usually tell you the right thing to do.  For now, don't doubt yourself and just focus on keeping your LO cooking.  I'm sure if the docs felt it was important for you to be in the hospital they would have admitted you for sure.  Besides, I'm sure your bed at home is much more comfy!

  • Name - Cora

    Due Date - 1/23

    Date Placed on Bedrest - 11/21 31w

Type - Modified Bedrest/ Restricted Activity

    Why - PTL

Question of the Day - What are you looking forward to most once LO arrives (other than not being on bed rest Stick out tongue)?

Answer -  I can't wait to see DH hold her! Look into her eyes, and smother her with kisses. I also can't wait to see the dogs and cats react to her.  The dogs have been extremely clingy since day one, and we suspect they'll behave similar to the dogs we had when I was born.  I can't wait to see who she looks like...I pray it's me! DH is gorgeous, but if a girl got his traits she's look caveman like! Oh and SEX!!!!!

Updates - Had to go to L&D today for BP monitoring! They are always concerned about it, but once I get there it's totally normal...thank god! So I got blood work ran, and other stuff.  Sent home! I am praying she doesn't make her appearance until after Sat.
