Could I be allergic to Pink Lemonade?

I have several allergies (foods include soy, corn and nuts) Two weeks I bought minute maid pink lemonade to give me a break from water and milk. I drink maybe one at night with dinner which last me the whole night.

Well the nights I have drank them the next morning I wake up without a voice (doesn't hurt) and my nose is stuffed and it's electric green when I blow it (TMI sorry)

I know your throat can hurt from drainage but I'm without a voice the entire day, just squeeks. My allergic reactions have only been in the form of eyes swelling shut, hives, and/or total swelling of the face.

I'm gonna stop drinking the lemonade bc the stuffed up nose keeps giving me small asthma attacks (geez I sound like a mega geek) bc I can't regulate my breathing.

Any of you have an allergic reactions like I described?

Re: Could I be allergic to Pink Lemonade?

  • The symptoms you describe do not sound like a food allergy.  Sounds like a cold to me...hope you feel better!

  • That's what I would normally chalk it up to but it's not every day. Like it will skip 2-3 days and then it's back

  • It doesn't sound like a food allergy, but you might be allergic to the dye in the lemonade.  One of my bff's is allergic to red#1 dye and can't have pink lemonade, fruit punch, gatorade, red candies etc.
  • Read the ingredients--maybe there's something in there that you're sensitive to. For example, I can't eat oregano. I don't get hives or breathing problems, but I do get nauseated. So it may not be a true allergy, but some kind of sensitivity or intolerance that you can avoid.

Plus if you're craving lemonade, it's really easy to make from scratch, and then you know exactly what's in it!
