life insurance?

Ok so I agree that it's something necessary, but we don't have it.  Any recommendations of where to start looking?  We don't have extra funds for a high premium and I have no clue where to start looking.

Re: life insurance?

  • I've had a really good experience through Northwestern Mutual. Term policies are pretty reasonable. I think I have one $500,000 policy for something like $40-50 a month. A bought very young - maybe 22, before kids.
  • I would look into a life insurance broker/financial planner who can offer you the rates on many different companies.

  • I get $250,000 through work, but am looking to supplement that now after reading the post below. My insurance company (American Family) offers life insurance. I would check with the company you have your car/house insured under and you might get a deal for insuring multiple things through them. I just filled out a quote request for myself tonight.

  • We went through our broker who handles our home and auto insurance.
  • With very affordable premiums, term life insurance should match your needs perfectly. Since you are young, opt for a longer term, with an option to renew the policy at the end of the term, preferably without having to prove insurability once again. To get the best deals on term life, shop around on the Internet. Online life insurance agencies not only offer free term life quotes, they also have additional resources on their sites like information on the types of life insurance, online insurance needs calculators, tips on ways to prepare for your term life insurance medical exam to increase your chances of qualifying for a better premium rate, etc. When you shop online make sure that the website you are dealing with is accredited by the Better Business Bureau, and the policy you are buying is from an insurance carrier with a high rating (A or above, the highest being A++).
