Bassinet question-f/u to where nb slept

I noticed a lot of people had baby sleep in the bassinet part of their pnp.  We did the same with Mason, but I was thinking with #2 I would want the pnp downstairs, for a safe place during the day.

So, I am debating on buying/borrowing a bassinet, or going straight to the crib?   I would like something for our room atleast in the beginning, I think.

Any opinions?

Re: Bassinet question-f/u to where nb slept

  • why do you need the bassinette downstairs?  Do you think mason will attack him? :)  You may recall (I'm not sure I did) that they don't do ANYTHING for a few months.  So a bouncy seat or a swing is fine for having somwhere to hang out - or the play mat thing... by the time you'd want a PnP to be used like a play yard, your kid would be moving aorund some, so that will be several months, and you might have already moved him (her?) into the crib.

  • lol, I was more thinking a safe place away from our large 75 lb dog, and maybe Mason depending on the day.  Tongue Tied

We have a bouncy seat, and playmat thing, also.

  • I loved the bassinet function of our Arm's Reach. It holds a lot more than the 15lbs the pnp holds.

  • We got the Eddie Bauer bassinet off craigslist for about $50 for our room upstairs, there's her crib in the nursery, and I'm thinking I might want something downstairs...but we'll see.  I'm considering moving the bassinet downstairs and just having her crib in our room to start.  I don't know, I'm no help I guess!

  • Yeah do you have any friends that might have a bassinet for your room that won't be as big as a pnp for your room?  We pretty much went straight to crib after the first 2 weeks home.

  • We did the bassinet (pnp) in our room and borrowed another bassinet for our main level. I loved having a place for her on both floors.

  • Can someone help me out with what f/u means? I always imagine it as the typical f u and in some posts it works. For example "f/u fat" would work but in this post, I'm not so sure....

  • Unless you are talking about ILs you can't stand or Fat, F/U means follow up.

  • we did a Moses basket next to our bed for the first 2 and 1/2 months, it's a bit smaller than a bassinet and fit better in our small space.
  • ah big dog.  that makes more sense.  :)

  • We're selling our Arm's Reach cosleeper, if you're interested.  :)  We never connected it to the bed and added wheels to the bottom of it, to move around the room.  It's pretty cool.  lol
  • I would think you will want to him him/her in your room.  :)

Our basinette is smallish and wood.  You are welcome to borrow it when we're finished.  I'm not 100% sure we're going to get rid of it yet.  :)

  • We had a bassinet for Kaylin and the PnP was downstairs. We never used the PnP down there though. Maybe it will be different with #2?
