what causes a sore throat on only ONE side?

So weird...I have had a sore throat ONLY on my left side for the last 4-5 days... the glands on that side are tender but otherwise no other symptoms really...my ears have been slightly achy from time to time but nothing intense, and the other day when I was cleaning my ears there was some dried blood in the left side which was weird... but I don't feel sick or anything... I have my reg OB appt tomorrow so will ask about it since we will already be there and we are leaving for Hawaii in a few days, but its so bizarre.

I get a sore throat on the left side sometimes as well. Mine is because one of my tonsils grew back, yes grew back, and so it gets inflamed. Fun huh? Hopefully it's nothing and just the glands are irritated or something. Tea with honey is always my cure.

interesting! I never had my tonsils out but haven't had trouble with them either. I'm not too concerned since I don't feel sick or anything - its just bizarre and if it is something I want to get it taken care of before our vacation

my guess is nasal drainage on that side

Definately ask about it cause that is odd. I'm just a freak. Apparently tonsils are like starfish arms, if they aren't completely detached properly, they can grow back.
