GoodStart Formula

Anyone use this formula. I have heard that is less gassy then the Similac. My girls are having alot of gas issues with the NeoSure. Any thoughts or experiences? I'd like tochange but pedi wanted to wait until this months checkup.

Re: GoodStart Formula

  • When I was having to supplement, the nurse at the hospital said all formulas were basically created equal EXCEPT for the nestle good start. Honestly, not sure why she said that (she simply said, "it sucks"), but her off comment stuck with me when going to buy formula.

My DD is super gassy and my pedi recommended Enfamil Gentle Ease. He said the partially broken down proteins aid digestion. DD didn't have any trouble with it, but there again, we never really were on it since my milk came in relatively quickly.

Have you tried adding Mylicon or gripe water to your formula? IMO, it really helped break up the gassiness in DD. I put in a half dropper per feeding for her whenever needed.

  • my boys were on it for 2 months or so- and they were quite gassy and it smelled HORRIBLE -their poops smelled toxic- really - it was so disgusting i couldn't take it - switched to Target's prebiotic formula and love it- they have normal "little stink" baby poops and not too much gas....and it's 1/2 the price.

  • My boys have been on the Nestle Good Start Natural Cultures (I think it's called Protect Plus--the green kind). Our pedi said it's her favorite formula and our boys tolerated it SO much better than any other kind we tried! They were super gassy those first few months, but they really did best on Good Start. I've heard that from a lot of moms whose babies have reflux or gas issues.

That's really odd; I wonder why she said that. Perhaps she had a bad personal experience with it (e.g. her own child needed a different kind), because I've always heard the opposite.

  • we went through a few formulas that made LOs gassy, and constipated and they spat up a lot, now we use Goodstart and love love love it.
  • The GoodStart is sooooo much thinner than the Neosure, It's so much easier to make large batches with. We were on the the Neosure for the first 5 months, the were so constipated!!! We switched to the GoodStart and thing have been going fine, we really like it much better.
