I figured we would switch to skim milk at 2 yrs. In talking lately with a lot of people I know irl it seemed many switched well before 2. I love milk but hate having so many gallons in the fridge so I haven't been buying skim for me lately. I am looking forward to when DD and I can share. So when did/will you make the switch?
Re: When did you/will you switch from whole milk to something else?
I think we'll probably switch next month. I prefer whole milk for cooking and when I do have a glass of chocolate milk, I want it to be real milk, not white water. (I grew up on a dairy farm. I have certain prejudices, I know.)
But Matthew prefers skim. I think we'll step him down for a couple months from whole to 2 percent to 1 percent to skim.
Both my kids are itty bitty weight wise so we dont really have any plans to switch them from whole in the near future. They're 4 and 2. If they were "average" weight, we'd probably have switched them to 1% or 2% by age two. DH and I drink skim.
DH and I switched to whole milk. We won't step down until DD is much bigger (she's off the chart on the small side for both height and weight). We also hated having multiple cartons of milk in the fridge, so we just stopped buying skim since it pretty much only went on cereal anyway.
I'm really liking the whole milk, actually. LOL. We may never switch!
