How important is this? (car seat question).

We have an Evenflo Triumph Advance and the weight is up to 50 pounds. The height is up to 50inches, but it also says AND the childs ears are below the child restraint seat back. I'm pretty sure that the top of P's head is already over the back of the seat (or just). He must have a long torso.

Is it time to invest in another seat?

Re: How important is this? (car seat question).

  • The seated height (torso) is more important than actual height.

  • I'm not an expert by any means but I think that's very important -- in a crash, there'd be nothing to protect his head behind him.

  • worry about his ear position, his legs could go for miles and never matter
  • the tops of his ears need to be below the hard shell.  Also his shoulders must be at or below the last harness place.  Once he hits one you need a new seat.  The head thing is so he does not hit his head on anything behind him, the shoulders are because in a crash if the straps are below his shoulders they will press down on his back and can really hurt it.

So if he has hit one of these then you need to get a new seat as soon as you can.
