So the other night I had a horrible pain in my chest and my upper back. I was having trouble breathing and nothing that I tried made the pain go away. It started at 1 in the morning and dh took me to the hospital at 5. I get there and they monitor the baby and he's fine. So I have an ultrasound done and it's my gall bladder. There is nothing that they can do till I give birth. The pain finally went away at 11 or so. But I have heard that giving birth is easier than the gall bladder pain so that's a plus! Anyone else have gall bladder issues? I am altering my diet to help flush it out. Any words of advice? I'd really love to not have that pain again.
Re: Gall Bladder
I agree with previous posters....the only thing you can do is try to eat low fat food.
When I had attacks it was usually in the middle of the night...I would wake up in TERRIBLE pain....sometimes the pain was so bad that I actually threw up (which does help alleviate the pain by the way...since there is no longer food in your tummy to require bile for digestion).
Hang in there...it is tough, but hopefully your attacks will be minimal!
I had my gall bladder out a few years ago. A gallstone attack is HORRIBLE. If labor is less painful than that, I may be able to handle it sans meds!
Anyways, I agree with everyone else saying stick to a low fat diet. Also, more bland foods help as well...plain rice, toast, bananas, oatmeal, etc. For protein, I would eat small amounts of chicken at a time (cut the fat off). Drink LOTS of water, too.
Good luck!
