I had my 39 week appt this morning at 10am and was dilated 1cm....I hadn't even been home for 10 minutes and my water broke. Since I'm GBS positive, we headed to the hospital, were admitted at 12:30pm, was checked at 1pm and I was 5cm!!!
I asked for an epidural even though the pain wasn't that bad...just in case. After being sticked NINE times by two different doctors I told them to just quit. It was terrible.
By the time I reached 9cm the pain was terrible. My contractions were coming every 2 minutes and were STRONG. I had an incredible urge to push but had to breath through it. I never knew being able to push would be a relief!
Long story short, I pushed for an hour with no meds and our little man arrived at 6:34pm weighing in at 8lbs 4oz and 21 inches long. Everyone is doing well and we're so happy to have him here.

Thanks ladies! It just goes to show you can have little to no progress and things can change in a blink of an eye!
Yep, I'm from mid-michigan...we delivered in Lansing but live in Charlotte
I had no intentions of going med-free but the troubles trying to get an epidural (over an hour) was unbareable. While I was trying to reach 10cm and then pushing I remember thinking "I'm never doing this again...EVER!!" and then once I was holding my little guy it all went away. Totally worth it!
