Tell me about your DC's 1st night in the big kid bed....

DS is in his big boy bed for the 1st time tonight. He had no nap today so I thought he'd be out as soon as he hit the bed which is what normally happens with no nap. However the 1st 20 mins he screamed for us to leave his door open (which he gets by with at his grandparents but we don't do that at our house b/c of our layout.) I caved and openhalf way, now we have to tip toe around. Whatever he's no screaming. He stopped fussing/crying and has now been playing for the last 30 mins in his bed. Please Please Please GO TO SLEEP. What were your experiences?

She got up a dozen-a million times.  Like your ds, we used to close her door while she was in her crib, but now she wants her door open.  We open it half way then almost close it after she is asleep. 

She is just now starting to stay in her bed at night.  We started in mid September.

I think my son was about your sons age....2 yrs, 8 months.  We got him a safety rail since it's a twin & I believe the first few nights he woke up here & there...we leave the door open even though he has 3 night lights..he likes to have the hall light.  I think it only took about 5-7 days & then he was good.  I'm just glad I waited...there are people who try to put an 18 month old in a bed, wow, that never would've worked w/ any of my kids, LOL.
