strawberries

Leo has been loving his puffs lately so I bought a few new flavors to try.  I bought strawberry apple, he has already had apples but not strawberries yet.  I checked wholesome baby foods and they say no strawberries till 12 months.  Would you hold off on the strawberry-apple puffs as well?

thanks

Re: strawberries

  • Hunter has had the strawberry-apple puffs and we haven't had any issues!

  • we've been holding off on strawberries and raspberries, but I've noticed a lot of stage 2 foods and other snacks with these ingredients.  I think we're going to go ahead and introduce them soon since she has been fine with blueberries and hasn't shown any reactions to ANY foods (knock on wood).

  • I was nervous about foods with strawberries in the ingredients even though we have no allergies in our family.  I gave DD foods with strawberries in them around 11 months.  (I may have tried foods with strawberry flavoring like the puffs closer to 9 months, I think.)
  • I never knew that strawberries were considered a high allergy food, so we gave him all the stage 2 foods that had it in them and he never had an issue.  So that would have been around 7 months or so.  He's probably had regular strawberries since 11 months.  We also don't have an food allergies is our family.
  • Strawberry flavoring vs. real strawberries are 2 different things.  I don't remember the reasoning, but I think pretty much anything other than real strawberries is fine.  (eg, gerber makes a strawberry-some other fruit puree that's stage 2- brandon loved it.  Most 1 year olds are past stage 2 foods...)
