ETA: Focking nest!

As I was saying....we've decided at the last minute to host some people tonight. We're doing heavy apps and fondue. I'd like to make something new. Throw your best appetizer ideas at me.

Ready? GO!

I'd love this recipe.  I got a fondue pot for Christmas last year and have never used it.  In fact, I've never had fondue.  What do you dip in the cheese?

  • Mini beef wellingtons

    Asian wings in the crockpot

    BBQ meatballs

    Veggie Pizza

    Asiago artichoke dip

    Stuffed mushrooms

    Bacon wrapped water chestnuts

Mini baked ham and cheese sandwiches.

  • Spinach Artichoke Dip and Cowboy Caviar are always hits when I make them.  Let me know if you want recipes.

I don't usually buy packaged food, but I bought the mini beef tacos from TJs once for a Mexican night and MH LOVES them.  He could seriously eat the entire box.

  • I ALWAYS do a taco dip in a Trifle dish. I know it is over done but people really do like it. I layer:

black beans, mix - sour cream with cream cheese and taco seasoning, guac, shredded cheese, tomato, green onion and then black olives if you like. Then I serve homemade tomatillo salsa on the side :)

Also, you could make oreo truffles. They are cute and easy.

I know, M! Not directed at you. Apparently, the one star wonder can't read my blunt card. Doesn't she/he know that I'm too fabulous to scroll through yesterday's posts?

Oh, okay.  You never know how things get read.  I was noticing today that every single post that I opened was one starred.  I really wonder if that is just a gliche.  I can't imagine someone would have that much time on their hands.  But I am always surprised by the stupidity of people, too, so who knows!

  • Lil' Smokies (OMG, so good!)

Hillshire Farms Lil Smoky Sausages (or cocktail franks, but smokies are better!)
    Bacon
    Brown Sugar

Wrap each sausage with 1/4 strip of bacon and secure with a toothpick.  Place in a foil-lined baking dish. Sprinkle liberally with brown sugar and bake at 350 until the sugar melts and the bacon has cooked.

    ENJOY!!

Yum, we LOVE fondue night!  I make a cheese fondue for the appetizer, and we dip apple chunks, pear chunks, and cubed French Bread.

For the entree, I do a broth fondue and cut up (raw) steak and chicken.  You spear it on your fondue fork and cook one or two pieces at a time for a few minutes in the broth.  I usually make like 6 dipping sauces to go with the meat and chicken.

And for dessert, of course, chocolate fondue!  We dip Oreos, lady-fingers, strawberries, bananas, pineapples . . . . pretty much anything that isn't nailed down, actually.  We are ruthless when it comes to chocolate fondue . . .

    ENJOY!
