Would you know how to pronounce Beau?

I was talking to a friend online the other night and he asked me our name choices and said he didn't know how to pronounce this one.

I tend to think that he's just a bit naive (he's young!) but would YOU know how to pronounce this name?  Do you think others would know?

I would think that almost anyone would know how to pronounce that.  There are a lot of boys named Beau around here.

DH works with a Beau. I knew how to pronounce it right away and I've never known a Beau before I met his coworker. It's obvious how to pronounce. People are idiots.

I know it's French and it's pronounced like Bo, but I can understand how kids familiar with words like "beautiful" might assume it's more like "byoo".

"Bo", but I speak French.  However, it's fairly common (especially in the South) for a first name in America.  I think it would be fine; and in fact, I LOVE it!  It's super cute for a little boy, and will be something nice for an adult as well - nice choice!

 Besides, my husband and I are using traditional Irish names for our babies and NOBODY will be able to pronounce a name like Saoirse Roisin, but don't care; because we like it!

I grew up with a boy named Beau, so yes.  It's a name that if someone doesn't know at first, they'll know how to say it after they hear it the first time. 

As a teacher I have come across many names that students were frustrated that others couldn't say or remember how to say- you have nothing to worry about with Beau.  It's a nice name and there won't be problems with it.
