I keep trying to post this as a reply to my thread below about SIL, but keep getting errors, so I'm trying this way.

Oh, bebeblues, let's talk SILs and BILs and vehicles. A few years ago, DH sold his sister and BIL his pathfinder, which was worth about $1800-2000, for $500. I'm pretty sure they never even paid us the full amount, they were going to pay it in 2 payments, and I'm fairly certain we never saw payment #2. A couple weeks later, DH asks his sister how they like the car. Her response? "H thinks we could've done better at a car auction."

Really? REALLY??? You think you could've gotten a 4WD SUV, about 10 years old w/ 100k miles on it, but that runs PERFECTLY, for under $500? I was seeing red from the sheer ingratitude of that statement. So then they turn around and sell the car a couple years later for $1500. Did we ever get so much as a thank you for basically giving them our car to use for 2 years and then turn around and turn a profit on it? Of course not.

DH basically excuses all this kind of behavior b/c their dad was kind of a borderline emotionally abusive d!ck to SIL when she was growing up. because that's how he treats all women.
